Bridging the Gaps inChild Welfare
One of the biggest limitations of global estimates on traumatized children is that they only account for those currently living in stable homes, overlooking those in institutions, on the streets, or in unstable environments where their pain remains unseen.

Are Broken and Traumatized Children Truly Cared For?
Too often, children from broken homes and traumatic backgrounds are left without the support they need. The troubling realities they face raised critical questions—questions that led to the creation of Beyond the Scars,
01
Why Are Children from Broken Homes Seen as Problems Instead of Victims?
Why would these kids be treated as problems, deprived of love, and mostly traumatized by these adults' actions?
02
When Did Innocent Children Become Tools for Conflict?
Why would these kids be treated as problems, deprived of love, and mostly traumatized by these adults' actions?
03
How Does Society Fail the Children Who Need It Most?
The society, on the other hand, is not helping matters; it discriminates among these children, especially in the area of building a home.
04
What Happens When Lost Children Seek Belonging in the Wrong Places?
The situation has caused lots of problems to the society at large. This is because most of these children, out of frustration, run out of the house seeking happiness where there is none.

Meet Our Founder
Fidelia
Princess Fidelia Ezinne Amaefu
Founder/CEO
Beyond The Scars was founded by Miss Fidelia Ezinne Amaefu, a banker and BSc Accounting graduate from Madonna University. Having personally experienced the impact of parental separation at a young age—alongside her siblings—she witnessed firsthand the deep psychological scars it can leave on children. This life experience ignited her passion for supporting less privileged and abandoned children, with the goal of minimizing the challenges they face.

Fidelia has been an active advocate for youth empowerment, child welfare, and societal development. Her dedication to social impact earned her certification as a member of the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) program in Sokoto State, Nigeria, during her National Youth Service.

Driven by her commitment to helping traumatized children, Fidelia founded Beyond the Scars Foundation—a not-for-profit organization—on March 18, 2015. It was officially registered and incorporated by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria on July 24, 2015. The foundation is dedicated to rehabilitating children who have suffered psychological trauma due to broken homes, domestic abuse, and other social challenges.
